This is my first blog. Its general purpose is to welcome one and all to our new site and organization. Ahavat Yisrael Ministries is a non-profit organization that  is NOT a 501c3, which simply means that donations are not tax deductible. We battled over the issue of rather to be 501c3 or not for years. We didn't want the government to have too much of a grip on what we say or do. However, this (the ministry) takes a great deal of time to do and at times it can get rather expensive. I (Steve) do all the work myself, from writing, selling, filling orders and printing, as well as designing and maintaining this web site. On top of that, I have a remodeling company, Salter Integrity Remodeling, that I run as well. I am, for the most part, the only employee so I have to round up the jobs as well as conduct the services. I also have to do the mundane, that's right, paperwork.

As one might think, this is very difficult for one person to do. I have been asked from time to time why it takes so long to complete a book or commentary; well it should be obvious now. If only I didn't have to eat and sleep, then I could get something accomplished.

I hope that everyone finds this new design easy to move around in and the added features a joy to use. I do hope to have input from everyone out there. I love hearing from you and talking with you. But please, don't get upset if it takes a few days for me to respond.

Also, those that know me well know that in September of 2010 I had an incident that left me blind in my right eye and it is still sometimes hard to say what I want to say. Its right on the tip of my tongue but I just can't quite get it out. I am learning to work around these things but they do slow me down a bit also. I am working on a new book about the G-dfearers. I had hoped to have it finished over a year ago but I feel it is still at least six months away. Things just keep getting in the way, you know, life. L-rd willing, things will come in His time, I just do the best I can.

I said all that to say why we decided not to get our 501c3 status. We simply get almost zero financial help form others, and at times I have thought about shutting down because we simply didn't have the money to keep supporting what we do on our own. My wife, Karen, is always there to talk me out of it and remind me why we do this in the first place. Then I hear from someone that tells me how I have effected their lives for the better and I realize that G-d is using me in some small way to help His people.

We believe the lack of support is partially due to the fact that we are not a 501c3 organization. I can understand that, so please don't get me wrong. If someone gave support to us it was actually giving support to me personally, since there was no organization to support. That has now changed, Ahavat Yisrael Ministries is a non-profit organization NOW, even though we have not acquired our 501c3 status. Simply put, that means that any support given to AYM is completely separate from me personally.

With all the IRS scandals in the news today one can only guess why we have decided NOT to pursue acquiring a 501c3 status from the all powerful IRS. We simply want no part of the corrupt institution. We prefer to let G-d lead us and those He will have support us. If you do decide to support us, and we do deeply need and appreciate it, you need to know that the federal Government will give you no reward, you will need to wait and get that from the truly only Almighty One. However, the IRS will have no record of you doing so either.
